Something I heard in a meeting a while back:
You have two choices in life. One, to do the work that needs to be done, make the changes that need to be made (including the hard things), and commit to spiritual progress. Two, to accept that things will always be the same they are today, with no guarantee of them getting better and a decent chance they’ll get worse.
I think that’s fairly accurate. That first choice is challenging. Change is difficult. It hurts sometimes, and it often includes a lot of scary moments. And yet… it doesn’t look so bad when the alternative is staying in exactly the same place I am right now. (Which, for the record, is bored.)
